Pitstop Pastries & Pizza opens in West End

A new European eatery has opened in West End, fusing Macedonian, Serbian and Italian recipes. Pitstop Pastries & Pizza caters to lunch and dinner patrons, with the option to eat-in or takeaway.

Owners Maria and Milan have always dreamt of opening their own place, with the opportunity arising when they realised they couldn’t find pastries locally like the ones they used to eat back home in Serbia. The pair started out by making their own pastry sheets at home, tinkering with the recipes and turning them into filled pastries.

Now the Vulture Street joint serves up pastries, pizzas and sweets, with the filo sheets for the pastries and freshly rolled dough for the pizza bases all made on-site. Amongst the savoury parcels, patrons will find fillings of classic spinach and fetta, traditional European meat, fetta and ricotta, and a hot pepperoni sausage and cabbage.

The pizza offerings see your favourite Margherita, Four Cheese, Pepperoni and Vegetarian options plated up, as well as the spicy Diavola – tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, hot sausage and jalapenos – and signature Pitstop pizza of tomato sauce, mozzarella, pepperoni, hot or mild sausage, mushrooms, olives, artichoke hearts and garlic. All pizzas are also available as a calzone, and a Macedonian bread pie known as Pastrmajlija is an open dough number topped with your choice of meat. For the sweet tooth, try the Baklava in almond and cinnamon or prune and walnut.
