Coorparoo’s Perch’d is hosting a house party – and you’re invited!
As we’ve grown older, our house-party tastes have become a bit more refined. Gone is the goon of fortune, now we’re drinking natural wines. We’re more inclined to slowly sip on a craft beer instead of shotgunning it, and we’ve also turned the Ministry of Sound bangers down in favour of a more diverse playlist of tunes. Don’t get us wrong – we still love house parties, they just don’t happen as often as we’d like. Thankfully, the folks behind creative studio After Hours and Coorparoo’s Perch’d are teaming up for a series of vibey house parties, kicking off on Monday March 9. Expect primo organic cask wine (some party traditions never die), chippy sangas and killer tunes curated by Brisbane selectors. Come along – just don’t disturb the neighbours.
The Perch’d crew is locking away the nice glasses, covering the furniture in plastic and double checking the parents will be away until tomorrow, because it’s house party time. On Monday March 9 between 4:00–8:00 pm (great news for those of you that work on weekends), the Cavendish Road fish and chipper will kick off the first volume of its House Party series – a collection of veranda soirees showcasing local food, wine and music.
Just because we are tapping into the party vibes of our past doesn’t mean we have to revert back to our youthful tastes. Jared Dixon of Jilly Wines will be rocking up to the party with a bunch of his must-try Miami bagged wines – both white and red varieties – while the Perch’d bar will also be amply stocked with local beer off tap and in tins. You can also forget about slightly burned party pies and miscellaneous bags of crisps – the kitchen will have all nibbles covered with a tailored snack menu boasting a simplified take on classics (think gourmet chippy sangas). Party vibes will be overseen by a rotating roster of local DJs, with Brisbane selector Respect Guy on deck for volume one, playing vinyl bangers perfect to boogie along to.
Perch’d and After Hours will be hosting regular parties moving forward, but we suggest making sure you’re there for volume one! It’s going to be a night to remember.
