The Darling
Paddington will be welcoming a new watering hole in late October, with the announcement of The Darling. The venue is the latest venture from the group behind The Fox Hotel, and will sit in the building previously occupied by Iceworks on the corner of Given Terrace. The Darling will have a mix of substantial dining options and bar snacks over its split levels, boasting an open-plan restaurant with booths, communal dining and long bar, as well as two separate function spaces. The kitchen will be head up by Jay Rowley, and will serve ever-changing brunch, lunch and dinner options seven days a week. Look out on The Weekend Edition for more information soon.

Fitz + Potts
Northside residents Cassie Potts and Brett Fitzpatrick are the owners and operators of forthcoming Nundah venue, Fitz + Potts. Set on the top level of a former Queenslander, this bar and eatery is shaping up to be a bright and open venue, boasting a 230-square-metre interior and 70-square-metre balcony overlooking High Street. The space will be decorated in a retro and kitsch manner with separate rooms boasting different vibes. A six-metre-long bar will dominate the interior, serving a selection of craft beers from lesser known micro breweries, boutique wines and an extensive range of Australian spirits sourced from micro distilleries. The food offering will include platters and deconstructed meals with vegan selections available. Expect Fitz + Potts to open in early October.

Southbank Beer Garden
Live Fire Steak Bar quietly rebranded over the weekend, transforming into Southbank Beer Garden. Still owned by Bevan Bickle, the venue is being given a fresh makeover with greenery and festoon lighting, and while the menu maintains its meaty roots of premium chargrilled steaks and American-style snacks, new salads, sides and nibbles have been added to the offerings. Southbank Beer Garden now also serves breakfast, with dishes such as soft vegetarian tacos and the Flap Jack Banana Stack with vanilla bean or smoked maple-bacon ice-cream. As the name suggests, the venue also focuses on a comprehensive beer selection, which can be enjoyed in the sun overlooking South Bank’s iconic Streets Beach.

The End of the Line Festival Line-up 
On October 24, Woolloongabba’s popular Logan Road dining precinct will once again host The End of the Line Festival, a day of food, drink, shopping and live entertainment. The festival organisers recently announced the highly anticipated musical line-up, which has been curated by Jet Black Cat Music’s Shannon Logan. The day will include performances by the likes of Blank Realm, Jess Ribeiro, East Brunswick All Girl Choir, Caitlin Park, Banff, The Goon Sax, Big Strong Brute and many more. The free festival will also include eats from Logan Road dining spots and plenty of street-food vendors.
