Pavement Whispers: Vol 45 October 20

From whispers of raw cake shops to new coffee roasters, The Weekend Edition is always on the search for the latest news in Brisbane, dedicated to ensuring its readers are in the know. When we put our ears to the pavement this week, this is what we found out …

Neighbourhood Coffee Roasters
Inner-west locals may have noticed the gradual renovation of the old Rainworth General Store over the past two years, which has been slowly transforming into Neighbourhood Coffee Roasters. The espresso bar and cafe is the new project from Alex Ridgway, and is set to open in the coming weeks. Coffee isn’t a new concept for Alex – his roastery in Sumner Park will be supplying Neighbourhood Coffee Roasters with its signature Store Keepers coffee blend. Look out on The Weekend Edition for more details soon.

Paddington Deli & Epicerie dinners
After pleasing palates with breakfast, lunch and deli goods, Paddington Deli & Epicerie will this weekend begin opening its doors for dinner on Friday and Saturday evenings. As of Friday October 23, the cafe will transform into a European-style bistro from 6:00 pm, serving up an array of French-inspired dishes crafted by head chef Joshua Gudgeon. Expect to find delights such as confit duck leg with saffron kipflers, heirloom carrots and blueberries, or Hervey Bay scallops with sweet corn, quail eggs and truffle salt.

Nutri Hitt Cake Shop
Lovers of bite-sized raw treats, listen up! Brisbane-based health-food wholesaler Nutri Hitt is preparing to open a specialty raw cake store in the first week of November, meaning you can purchase a full-sized raw cake to brighten your birthday, delight your dinner guests or please your pals. You may have nibbled on a Nutri Hitt bite from a number of cafes and stockists around town, including Charlie’s Raw Squeeze, Quench Juice Bar, Raw Juicery and Pawpaw. All cakes will be raw, vegan, gluten free, dairy free, refined-sugar free, soy free and paleo.
