Pavement Whispers: Volume 86 August 23
From whispers of drool-worthy dream burgers to late-night mini golf, The Weekend Edition is always on the search for the latest news in Brisbane, dedicated to ensuring its readers are in the know. When we put our ears to the pavement this week, this is what we found out …
Mr Burger
You read right. Mr. Burger. Is. Coming. To. Brisbane. Yep, the Melbourne burger joint of our dreams is heading north, and you don’t even have to wait that long – it’s coming THIS FRIDAY! Staying true to its roots, Mr Burger is bringing a permanent food truck to town, hitting the streets for the first time this Friday August 26 at Green Beacon Brewing Co. To celebrate, the truck will be dishing out free burgers from 6:00–8:00 pm. Mr Burger’s menu will have all of the Melbourne classics, including both of its takes on the perfect American-style burger and its famous Trucker Chips – they’re loaded with three kinds of American cheese, crispy diced bacon and secret-recipe Trucker sauce. Oof. We’ll have full details for you in Thursday’s issue!
Short Street Espresso
After opening Metropole Bar Eatery, Espresso Emporium and Santa Monica already this year, you would think Giuseppe Petroccitto from Bellezza Group was ready to take a break. Not one to rest on his laurels, he already has another cafe in the works – this time in the new 1 William Street development. Short Street Espresso is set to open in late November, and will feature an impressive marble and timber fit-out, and floor-to-ceiling glass windows that will offer sweeping views of the Brisbane River over to South Bank. Keep an eye on The Weekend Edition for updates.
Albion Provisions
When you’re craving delicious baked goods, chances are your mind immediately thinks of Jocelyn’s Provisions. The bakery has been treating the tastebuds of Brisbane locals for 20 years, with its delectable offering ranging from artisanal breads to mouth-watering pastries and sweets. Jocelyn’s recently moved a couple of doors up from its landmark James Street location due to redevelopment of the site, but the real news is the announcement of a second location! Albion Provisions is due to open in October in an all-new boutique precinct called Albion Fine Trades, positioned just near Breakfast Creek. The new store will offer a similar selection to its James Street sibling, with a few new items thrown in, and also offer children’s cooking classes from its specially designed test kitchen. We’ll keep you posted!
Holey Moley Golf Club
Fancy a little putt-putt on your Saturday night? Holey Moley Golf Club is the latest project from the team behind Strike Bowling, and is coming to 25 Warner Street at the end of September. The old church is currently being converted into an art-covered cocktail bar meets mini-golf course, which will be open from 10:00 am through until late. There will be two nine-hole courses to choose from, with each hole taking on a different theme. Holey Moley Golf Club will also serve up a food-truck-style menu to keep you going well into the evening. Official tee off is Thursday September 29 – we’ll have more details then!
