Pavement Whispers: Volume 118 April 18

From whispers of new cafes to adult milkshakes, The Weekend Edition is always on the search for the latest news in Brisbane, dedicated to ensuring its readers are in the know. When we put our ears to the pavement this week, this is what we found out …

Lonely Boy
We know you probably ate a lot over the long weekend, but just try to stop your mouth watering over the idea of a cheddar and jalapeno waffle with creamed corn, fried chicken nuggets and maple drizzle. Oof! This food-porn dream can soon be your reality, when Lonely Boy opens in Spring Hill tomorrow morning. The small cafe is the latest project from Shady Palms owners Mal Gill and Bec Saul (formerly of Lady Marmalade and The Milk Factory), who are renowned for delivering good vibes and delicious eats. Lonely Boy will serve up breakfast and lunch six days a week (including Mal’s famous sandwiches), and offer delivery dinners come evening via Foodora and UberEATS. We’ll have full details for you this week!

Lord of the Wings
The Ghanem Group (Byblos, Blackbird Bar & Grill) is at it again, this time bringing its American-style Lord of the Wings to Indooroopilly Shopping Centre’s Station Road Dining precinct. Set to softly open tomorrow, Wednesday April 19, at 5:00 pm, the Indooroopilly venue will be much bigger than its Carindale sibling, growing from the original concept to be a sports bar and family diner. Wings will of course be the hero of the menu, with 20 sauce options ranging from sweet honey pomegranate to buffalo suicide hot, but you’ll also find new-and-improved burgers, sandwiches, hot dogs, ribs, salads and American-style sides. Lord of the Wings Indooroopilly will have a huge sport focus, and feature big screens throughout the venue as well as a large beer garden serving adult milkshakes, beer towers, alcoholic slushies and Corona-ritas.

Pit Boss American BBQ & Eats
Newmarket’s Pit Boss American BBQ & Eats is spreading its wings (get it?) and opening a second location in Coorparoo. Due to open at the end of April, the American eatery will serve up low-and-slow barbecue meats like its older sibling, as well as its famous twice-cooked buffalo wings, burgers, hot dogs and fries. Pit Boss’s house-made dessert pies and ice-creams will also be on the menu – hello, key lime pie – and a full bar will be opening within the venue from mid-May. Pit Boss American BBQ & Eats Coorparoo will offer the entire menu for both delivery and takeaway, so you can get your fingers saucy in the comfort of your own home.
