From news of Siffredi’s and Alba’s Sunday session collab to a new brunch spot coming to Wilston, The Weekend Edition is always on the search for the latest food news in Brisbane, dedicated to ensuring its readers are in the know. When we put our ears to the pavement this week, this is what we found out …

Siffredi’s x Alba
We love a great team up, especially when it involves two of Brisbane’s coolest eateries. Teneriffe spaghetti spot Siffredi’s is hosting the gang from Burnett Lane tapas and wine bar Alba on Sunday April 18 for a two-pronged snack attack featuring good wine, good eats and good vibes. The house-party-style fun will kick off from midday, with DJs playing laid-back beats as the kitchen dispenses a menu of small plates – we’ve been told to expect stuffed piquillo peppers, Korean fried-lobster tacos, wagyu and salt-and-vinegar crisp sliders with bulldog sauce and a special collaborative dessert that unites Siffredi’s soft serve with Alba’s jamon flan (dubbed the jamon fat caramel soft serve). Both venues will be contributing to the drinks list, with signature sips including Siffredi’s own ‘hard’ lemonade and Alba’s amaro spritz. Bookings are available for tables of five or more, otherwise it’s first in, best dressed. Don’t sleep on it – this will be one Sunday session worth checking out!

Clementine
Wilston Village’s brunch offering is set to expand next week when newcomer cafe Clementine opens to the public next week. The eatery will be slotting neatly into the space recently vacated by Elska (which relocated to New Farm earlier this year), offering a menu boasting all-day brunch bites, house-baked treats and specialty coffee. The menu is still being finalised, but we’ve been told to expect plenty of seasonal produce across the board. As for the space itself, a refurbishment has given the space a facelift, resulting in a crisp modern aesthetic boasting warm timbers and pale pastels. Rest assured we’ll have all the delicious details in The Weekend Edition soon!

The Princess Theatre
Live-music fans were treated to some exceptional news last week when it was revealed that the gang behind beloved Fortitude Valley gig temple The Tivoli has taken over Woolloongabba’s Princess Theatre, with plans to revitalise the 133-year-old landmark into a hub of music and arts. Work has already begun on the building’s interior overhaul, which will include the implementation of a state-of-the-art performance auditorium with capacity for 900 patrons standing and 500 seated, four bars, a public cafe, private-event spaces, a rehearsal room, a co-working creative office and workshop space, plus an outdoor courtyard. The official reopening of the Princess Theatre is tentatively slated for August 2021 – stay tuned for details on the venue’s program, which will be announced in the coming months.

Regional Flavours
The tastes of the state will be on display once more when food and wine festival Regional Flavours returns to South Bank Parklands later this year. Some of Australia’s most celebrated chefs and local producers will take part in the festival’s three-part event series, kicking off with Grazed and Grown from June 18–20. This jam-packed weekend will feature a smorgasbord of epicurean events, including cooking demonstrations and talks with industry leaders including Matt Sinclair, Josh Lopez and Will Cowper, a food hall (dubbed The Marketplace) showcasing local producers and artisans operating within 250 kilometres of Brisbane, and the ultra-luxe Signature Event at River Quay, which will see some of Brisbane’s finest chefs plating up world-class fare – all made using local, seasonal and sustainable produce. Regional Flavours will continue in August and October, with Global Fiesta shining a light on the city’s rich multicultural diversity from August 20–22, while Providore Park will transform South Bank into a delicatessen haven celebrating wine, cheese, and chocolate from October 15–17. Tickets to Grazed and Grown will be available to purchase on Friday April 23. Make sure you’re prepped to snatch up some tickets when they become available here.

Crab & Cray Cray Feast at One Fish Two Fish
Woolloongabba’s parlour of all things seafood One Fish Two Fish is celebrating all things crustacean with the return of its Crab & Cray Cray weekend lunch menu. Between 12:00–2:00 pm and 2:30–4:30 pm every Friday, Saturday and Sunday in April and May (excluding Mother’s Day), diners will be able to enjoy four courses of superb shellfish (plus dessert) for $69. The feast will include the likes of painted crayfish roll with saffron mayo and brown butter, warm soba noodle salad with spanner crab, yuzu miso and chilli, and blue swimmer crab with potato and bacon hash. Thirsty guests can add a rosé and beer package for an extra $30. To ensure supply is available, bookings are essential – head to the One Fish Two Fish website to secure a spot.
