Join Sustainable Table’s Waste Deep campaign

The devoted folk from Melbourne not-for-profit organisation Sustainable Table are putting their hands on their rather large hearts and asking Australia to get on board their new waste-reduction campaign. The team wants to create a short film, Journey to Zero Waste, to show fellow foodies just how easy it is to reduce packaging and food waste when preparing their daily meals. With up to 60% of our personal eco-footprint embodied in the food that we buy, it’s a mission that truly matters. You can do your bit by not only making 2014 a waste-free year, but also supporting Sustainable Table’s Waste Deep Pozible campaign to help them produce this vital documentary. Even crooner Jack Johnson is lending a hand by offering to match funds donated to the campaign before Tuesday December 31. Find out more at All At Once. more

Festive feasting on duck tacos with cherry salsa

Never mind the 12 days of Christmas, there are only 100 days of holy cherries. These edible little baubles are in season right now, so it's the perfect time to dash down to your local green grocer, fill a punnet and feast to your heart's content. Pop a cluster of washed cherries in a bowl on the Christmas table, throw some into your morning muesli or twist them into a seasonal dinner of duck tacos with cherry salsa. This recipe is easy to make and serves four hungry mouths. We recommend donating any leftover cherries to a sweet and simple dessert of vanilla bean ice-cream. more

The Street Photographer: Beach Burrito Company, Fortitude Valley

Sating the city’s never-ending desire for Mexican nosh, Beach Burrito Company has slipped north from its original Sydney dwellings to fill a hole on Brunswick Street with its trademark colour and character. The Fortitude Valley locale is serving up all your favourite Mexican chow – quesadillas, burritos (and the beloved bowl varietal), fajitas, enchiladas, nachos, chilli fries and jalapeño poppers. We’ve also heard very good things about the lime chilli garlic prawn taco with mango, pineapple and jalapeño salsa. Check out Beach Burrito Company on The Street Photographer. more
