Nestled just off the Pacific Highway, Harvest Cafe is the cornerstone of tiny town Newrybar. Located just a short drive south of Byron Bay and Bangalow, Harvest Cafe is renowned for using fresh and organic seasonal produce across its breakfast and lunch menus. The cafe transforms into a bistro and watering hole on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, serving dinner and shaking up refreshing cocktails inspired by native flora. Patrons can soak up the soul-filling country ambience on the back verandah or watch all the kitchen action from the bar seating out the front. Brisbane-based company Treat Frozen Yoghurt has expanded from its original digs in Carindale to open a second Brisbane residence in the Myer Centre in the city. Inspired by the FroYo joints of afar, Treat dishes up soft-serve FroYo in the four simple steps of pour your own, add your toppings, weigh and pay. The vanilla and chocolate traditional flavours feature alongside more creative mixes of blood orange, pomegranate, watermelon and green apple. Toppings range from fruit to confectionery, cereals and sauces, with smoothies, frappes, slushies and cyclones (slushie-meets-FroYo) also gracing the menu. A change is in the winds of late, bringing a new look to Two Trees in West End. The Vulture Street coffee corner has had a makeover with the help of local woodworker James Pratt, making a little extra space for The Iron Ladies to press waffles on site each Friday from 8:00 am starting this week. Owners Jordan and Mim have also started experimenting with a variety of new coffee methods for Two Trees, with French press and pourover filter coffees in-store soon. Iced pourovers will also be on the menu in both coffee and chocolate forms, while the cold press continues along its popular stream. Soon Two Trees will also be offering feature single-origin blends and starting to enhance hot chocolate recipes with mint, cinnamon and cardamom as the weather cools. Newstead’s Symposium Cafe opens for dinner and drinks from this Friday, with the new sitting set to be a weekly occurrence. Wines from Australia, France, Italy and Chile will also now be available from 10:00 am during the day, so patrons can sneak in a glass of something crisp with lunch. Commencing with just Friday nights, the initial extended hours are an opportunity for Symposium Cafe to put feelers out to see if dinner can become a nightly event. Meals set to grace the menu include the likes of Pan-fried Prawns and Chorizo with Brown Rice, Paprika and Garlic, Eye Fillet with Roasted Beetroots, Kale Chips and Champagne Sauce and Crispy Asian Quail with Bean Sprouts, Fennel, Chilli, Basil and Coriander. more
