Newstead’s Oliver James Coffee and Furniture pairs bespoke fixtures with specialty java
If you consider yourself well acquainted with Brisbane’s best cafes and bars, there’s a good chance you’ve parked your caboose on some furniture crafted by Woodsters. The skilled mind and hands behind the notable furniture and carpentry outfitter is now trying his hand at hospitality, pairing specialty coffee with his own custom furniture in what can best be described as a functional showroom.
Oliver Burscough has made a name for himself as one of the best in the business when it comes to custom hospitality fit-outs. As the crafty hand behind Woodsters Furniture & Carpentry, Oliver has been involved in furnishing spots such as Josie North, The Stables Craft Bar & Kitchen, Black Bear Lodge, The Gettin’ Place and more. Seeking to branch out from fit-outs to incorporate bespoke furniture for living spaces, Oliver started Oliver James Furniture and with his partner Daisy took over a 300 square-metre warehouse space in Newstead to enhance his operations. On Monday February 13 Oliver James Furniture will debut its showroom, which doubles as a cafe in conjunction with Oliver James Coffee, which has been operating since the final months of 2016.
Oliver James Coffee and Furniture is described as a working showroom, where curious patrons interact with the furniture as part of the cafe. Stools, large tables and sling chairs from the Oliver James Furniture range will be on display come Monday February 13, boasting a chic, clean and minimalist aesthetic that is a continuation of Oliver’s signature style. Customers are encouraged to linger and relax with a cup of Single O coffee, HRVST ST juice, BNE Soda Co beverages and a pastry from Crust & Co Artisan Baking, or simply stop by and grab-and-go a cup from the coffee window at the front.
The full range of Oliver James Furniture will be on display next Monday. For location details and opening hours, find Oliver James Coffee and Furniture in the Stumble Guide.
