Bite into a delicious okonomiyaki at Eat Street Markets

Okonomiyaki is a delicious savoury pancake originating from Japan. Okonomi means ‘what you like’ and yaki means ‘grilled’, and okonomiyaki is locally known as a Japanese grilled pancake or pizza.

Mainly associated with the Kansai or Hiroshima areas of Japan, okonomiyaki is also widely available throughout the country with toppings, batters and sizes varying according to region. Traditionally the raw ingredients and batter are supplied to the diner to grill themselves on a table fitted with a teppan or special hotplate.

Okonomi House has set up shop at the weekend Eat Street Markets at Hamilton to serve up this delicious treat to the masses who ascend upon these markets in search of interesting and creative market food. Pop down to Eat Street Markets this weekend for a delicious treat of fried cabbage topped with pork, egg, Japanese barbecue sauce, Japanese mayonnaise, seaweed and bonito flakes. There are no cook-your-own tables here, Okonomi House will do all that hard work for you!
