Nutri Hitt Kitchen brings wholefoods, sensible sweets and vegan-friendly breakfast to Albion
When Tamara Lord first debuted her range of raw cakes and treats in 2015, little did she know that the gluten- and refined-sugar-free treat movement was on the cusp of a huge boom. Since her first store in Geebung, Nutri Hitt has grown into a leading name in Brisbane’s raw-treat scene, expanding into a wholesale juggernaut capable of moving large amounts of product interstate. The new year has brought some changes for Nutri Hitt, with a recent relocation to Albion giving Tamara the chance to blend her love of wholefoods and dietary-friendly fare across cakes and all-day breakfast.
For the past three years Nutri Hitt has been operating on Racecourse Road, blossoming from its humble market origins into a bona fide raw-treat powerhouse. When the venue’s lease ended in January, owner Tamara Lord decided a change was needed. Years of expanding Nutri Hitt’s wholesale capabilities had removed some of the fun that Tamara enjoyed at the beginning, and the high demand from interstate buyers prevented her from having the flexibility to experiment. Last year saw Nutri Hitt scale back its wholesale component, limiting orders to Queensland only. With a bit more time on her hands, Tamara began to innovate once more, introducing a small breakfast offering at Racecourse Road that showed immediate promise. After deciding to move from Racecourse Road this year, Tamara searched for a location that could accommodate the raw-treat retail element as well as a more comprehensive dining service that favoured nutritious fare, first and foremost. A modern 30-seater space on Hudson Road in Albion (the former home of Camp and Parallel Roasters) proved perfect, and with a fresh coast of paint and some aesthetic tweaks, the newly minted Nutri Hitt Kitchen officially opened to the public on Tuesday April 23.
Nutri Hitt Kitchen’s offering is a natural extension of the changes enacted on Racecourse Road, but with the added benefit of more elbow room. Nutri Hitt’s range of raw and baked cakes are still available, with a cabinet full of ready-to-eat cakes made daily. Another cabinet is chock-full with smaller treats, each of which is also dairy-, gluten- and refined-sugar free. Come this weekend, Nutri Hitt Kitchen will debut its all-day breakfast menu and add grab-and-go bites to its cabinet selection, the latter of which will encompass the likes of fresh salads, rice-paper rolls, gluten-free wraps, egg-and-bacon sandwiches and even bone-warming curries come winter. The sit-down menu expands the offering to include non-vegan options, with Tamara looking to further broaden her culinary horizons and cater to all comers. Diners can expect the return of Nutri Hitt’s popular waffles (flavours will rotate monthly), as well as matcha French toast, nourish bowls, vegan eggs benedict and more, with all menu items able to be served vegan if desired. Bear Bones has been selected for Nutri Hitt’s specialty coffee supplier, with a full roster of milk alternatives on hand. Rounding out the sipping selection is a range of smoothies, tea and turmeric and beetroot lattes.
