Bottoms up! Newstead Brewing Co. opens its shiny new Milton brewery and bar

The tanks have been installed, the taps are primed and the kitchen is firing up the ovens – Newstead Brewing Co.’s new location is ready. Come Friday March 10, punters from across Brisbane are encouraged to flock to Castlemaine Street to get their hands around frosty pints of craft beer and their teeth into fare fresh from the kitchen. We’ll cheers to that!

The space
Milton’s storied legacy as Brisbane’s beer brewing mecca is set to have another chapter added when Newstead Brewing Co. flicks on the pumps at its new location – sitting pretty in the shadow of Suncorp Stadium. Located on Castlemaine Street in Milton, Newstead Brewing Co.’s swish new locale has been built specifically to increase the production capacity of the brewer, while also becoming a stellar addition to the city’s burgeoning craft beer bar scene in its own right. Paul Fairweather – who helped design the original Newstead location – has shaped architectural statements, which follow an industrial-inspired aesthetic. The space is noticeably larger than the Newstead location, with an outdoor terrace that wraps around the premises, an impressive main bar, plenty of dining space, a function area that is opened up to the public on event days and a large behind-the-scenes brewing operation.

The food and drink
When it comes to the good stuff, fans of Newstead Brewing Co.’s range of brews will find plenty to enjoy. The main bar boasts 12 taps pouring all of Newstead’s concoctions at launch, with guest taps rotating in the future. The fridges are filled with other notable craft beer brands and the back bar is stocked with a quality selection of wine and spirits. Over in the kitchen, a lot of thought has been put into the menu, which boasts meals that are complementary to the drinking experience. Pork cutlet with carrot ribs, house gnocchi with autumn greens, buttermilk chicken burgers, deep-fried pickles, roast eggplant pizzas and corned beef sandwiches are just a fraction of the meals at your fingertips.

The details
Once fully up and running, the Milton brewery will be pumping out more than ten times the amount of beer than the Newstead operation through newly installed water treatment tanks, fermenters, and canning and kegging facilities. If you are after some brew for your fridge at home, a growler station is on hand next to the bar. Newstead Brewing Co. in Milton will be officially open to the public come 10:00 am on Friday March 10. Seek out more details in the Stumble Guide.
