A new look Friday Nite Snackdown kicks off at Wandering Cooks

The popular event that pits two menus against each other is undergoing an overhaul, with raised stakes and more creative meals on offer.

Every Friday since early March 2015, Wandering Cooks has hosted a culinary contest known as the Friday Nite Snackdown at its Fish Lane location. Created by Brisbane chef Ben Devlin, the weekly event pits two different styles of cuisines against each other in a duel of flavours, the winner of which being decided by the tastebuds of ravenous punters. On Friday May 8, Friday Nite Snackdown will be evolving into a new format in which two Brisbane-based food makers will be given a culinary theme and will then compete for favour of Friday night snack seekers.

Every week will see a new pairing of cooks duking it out – from established chefs to up and coming innovators to food truck pioneers. The first duel will be between the teams behind The Bone Lorry and The Makers Club who will be preparing food with ‘Scottish Highlander’ and ‘Autumn’ themes respectively. The winner, as voted by the eaters, will be entered into a finalist Battle Royale taking place every six weeks. No matter how heated the battles, the winner will always be our stomachs.

The Stumble Guide is our comprehensive Brisbane dining guide with more than 2400 places to eat, drink, shop and play.
