Nessun Dorma cafe and roastery opens at Yeronga
Southside dwellers may have been very familiar with local cafe Neds at Yeronga, which Roslyn Gibbons-Munch owned for ten years. Now the community cafe has been given a fresh new look and direction, with Roslyn and Matthew Aplin rebranding to cater to the neighbourhood’s growing passion for coffee.
Nessun Dorma – Italian for ‘none shall sleep’ – is the new name, the venture combining a cafe and roastery under the one roof. With an aim to support the local producers and form a real sense of community around the cafe, Nessun Dorma uses local, organic produce on the menu, free-range eggs and Barambah Organics milk for your coffee.
While the Eduardo house blend with notes of chocolate, blueberry, plum and stone fruit is currently running through the grinder, the team hopes to soon have about three blends on hand at all times, with a rotating single origin as well. Sourcing green beans from sustainable, fairtrade farms from the likes of Papua New Guinea, Columbia and Brazil, Nessun Dorma creates a sensory experience, roasting the beans in-house, so patrons can see and smell the beans that will go into their morning cup.
As well as a focus coffee, the cafe sees Savoury Mince with a fried egg on toast grace the breakfast menu, while the Open Pulled Pork Belly Sandwich with apple coleslaw and dill pickle on turkish caught our eye at lunch.
