Nant Whisky Cellar & Bar, Brisbane City

Nant Whisky Cellar & Bar opens in Brisbane City

Revered Tasmanian whisky doyen Nant Distilling Company has opened an ambient new bar in Brisbane City.

Those with a penchant for whisky can now wet their whistles in the moody new Nant Whisky Cellar & Bar on Edward Street. Peeking out from the heritage-listed Old Mineral House, the petite saloon showcases some of Tasmania’s best whiskies, ciders, wines and beers, not previously offered this side of the border. The new digs combines armchairs ideal for a relaxed nip, a glittering mirror bar and, of course, the glorified gents of the hour – the bottles of premium whisky.

If your palate is only just embarking on an education in whisky, opt for the taster of three flights or start with a whisky-based cocktail like Nant’s take on the espresso martini, The Black Ray. More practised whisky connoisseurs can wrap their hands around Australia’s only highland single-malt whisky, which has been crafted in the Nant Tasmanian distillery, or a range of collectible blends sourced from hidden pockets around the world. The bar’s culinary neighbour, Restaurant Two, will soon provide food sustenance in the form of tapas-style dishes designed to share.

Owner Keith Batt opened Queensland’s first Nant bar in the Emporium in late-2012 and aims to open a slew of new offerings around the country and the world within the next few years.
