Nana & Da’s neighbourhood cafe opens in Kedron

Drop in to new Kedron local Nana & Da’s for some good old-fashioned nosh in a tranquil, homely setting.

It’s the little extra touches that take a venue from good to truly special. Like the real macerated strawberries blended into your milkshake, the salmon that’s been painstakingly smoked on-site and the custom blend of fresh juice that’s been carefully concocted to aid your individual ailments. Nana & Da’s only opened its doors in April, but already the Kedron locals are flocking to the homely hangout for a sip of specialty Cup Coffee and homestyle grub. The lovely lady behind the venture is Kedron resident Jackie Wise, who had been craving a community cafe for years before she decided to take the plunge, abandon her former career and open her very first venue.

The cute cottage perched on Homebush Road has had a long history nourishing the surrounding community, originally delivering fresh loaves of bread by horse and cart under the name Nana & Da’s Bakery back in the 1930s. After stints as a local store and community space, the building has now returned to its roots, with freshly baked treats emerging from the kitchen six days a week. All-day breakfast and lunch dishes are lovingly prepared on the premises, treating guests to warm stacks of coconut pancakes served with grilled peaches, maple and Maleny yoghurt; cider chorizo beans with mojo sauce, poached egg and fresh chilli; and homemade flat bread with braised lamb neck, pickled cucumber and mint and lemon labna. Indulgent treats like gluten-free chocolate and hazelnut muffins, beetroot lamingtons and triple-choc macadamia brownies are also on offer.

Children hold a special place in Nana & Da’s heart, which treats them to their own menu options as well as a forthcoming fenced play area, which will no doubt aid exhausted parents as well. Customers will soon be able to swing by for a relaxing tipple on a Friday or Sunday evening – keep watch on the cafe’s Facebook page for announcements as well as updates on future fundraising events for local charities.

You’ll know Nana & Da’s is open for business when the resident Roo is standing guard on the front footpath, but for more accurate trading hours and contact information, check out our Stumble Guide.
