Forget the warm Milo – chase away the chills and with some smooth specialty chocolate from some fine Melbourne-based cacao artisans.

Okay, we know that Brisbane gets off pretty easily in terms of the coldness of its winter season, but that doesn’t mean we cant enjoy the seasons spoils when it comes to comfort food and drink. Hot chocolate is a must-have for when it gets chilly and Mörk is making a name for itself as one of Australia’s best makers of drinking chocolate. Mörk is popping up in cafes all over Brisbane and is in high demand thanks to its mixtures using pure cacao liquor and decadent cocoa powder.

Mörk sources its cacao liquor from Sur Del Lago in Venezuela – one of the oldest cacao growing regions in the world – boasting flavours of berries, almonds and stone fruit. The ‘Dutched’ cocoa powder is brought over from Peru and features a depth in flavour and lower acidity than other cacao varieties. Mörk creates small batches of gourmet hot chocolate by fusing the powder and liquor with organic unrefined coconut blossom sugar. Patrons can order 250g Mörk flavours ranging from junior dark, dark milk and salt, original dark and even darker varieties to enjoy in the comfort of your own home. If you want to try before you buy, you can find Mörk Chocolate at Josie North, Told You So, Dovetail on Overend, Two Trees, Marchetti and The Tiller Coffee.
