Discover health nook More Wholefoods in Fortitude Valley

Tucked between the busy main streets of Wickham and Ann in Fortitude Valley is lunchtime nook More Wholefoods. Acting as the cafe adjoining the Endeavour College of Natural Health, More Wholefoods was originally a Bar Merlo outfit, before the college relocated earlier this year.

Possessing values in line with those of the college, More Wholefoods delivers fresh and healthy products and meals, for all types of diet. Some foodstuffs are still created in the Merlo kitchen, while the cakes and biscuits are all homemade. This petite cafe has just started serving its own rice paper rolls, available in Sesame Chicken and Sweet Chilli, Honey Tofu and Tamari, or Lemon Mayo Tuna, with smoothies added to the drinks list this week. Fresh, vibrant salads can be taken individually or in threes, with the likes of green bean, tomato, sweet potato and cannellini beans gracing the menu.

With an aim to cater to everyone, More Wholefoods focuses on providing vegetarian, vegan, gluten- and dairy-free options amongst its range. Coffees can come crafted on soy, rice and oat milk – as well as the regular cow-derived white liquid for the non-allergic drinker – while vegan Chocolate Cashew Crispy Squares and vegan carrot cake tempt an afternoon treat. Stocking an assortment of easy snack foods, pick up a Brookfarm muesli bar, Conscious Chocolate bar, melting moment, choc oat cookie, jam drop, carton of coconut water or bottle of New Zealand organic Phoenix soda for your post-lunch treat.

Fresh fruit rests in a wicker basket above brown-paper packets of nut and chocolate mixes, while raw, organic, handcrafted Great Balls of Gaia are packed with superfoods. Try the Green Spiral – a concoction of spirulina, barley grass, pea protein, cashew, almond, banana, date, sesame and coconut – which packs the ultimate health punch.
