Munch on vegan burgs until the cows come home at MooFree Burgers

We know what you are thinking – there’s no way a meatless burger can stack up to a classic hamburger. Well, as much as we love sinking our teeth into a juicy meaty burg, we’re going to have to disagree with you. The team behind Charlie’s Raw Squeeze is changing the way we think about the humble burger, opening a location that serves nothing but meatless vegan varieties. MooFree Burgers in North Lakes might just be the spot to convince you that meat-free is the way to be.

If you’ve ever been let down by limp fast-food offerings, been disappointed by the sogginess of a stacked high-end burger or are simply looking to try something new, the team behind MooFree Burgers reckons it’s got something you’ll enjoy. Johnny and Michael Tabet (of Charlie’s Raw Squeeze fame) seek to make it easy for everyone to have access to healthy and delicious food made without animals or animal products. Since Johnny and Michael went vegan, the brothers have sought out a vegan burger that was satisfying in both taste and structure. Finding nothing that suited their tastes, they decided to make their own and after six months of recipe trial and error Brisbane’s first completely meat and animal product-free burger bar opened in North Lakes, a stone’s throw from Westfield on Endeavour Boulevard.

MooFree Burgers has launched with a menu of eight burgers as well as a sizeable breakfast offering to help locals start their day in a healthy way. The signature choices include the VBD (Vegan Brothers Delight), featuring a beefless pattie, facon (fake bacon) rashers, vegan cheese, caramelised onion pickles, tomato, lettuce and mustard mayo, the Mama Kays with falafel, tabouli, tomato, lettuce, hummus and vegan mayo and the Mooxicano, which boasts a black bean pattie, vegan cheese, avocado and corn chips. The other burgers in the MooFree range include the likes of pulled jackfruit, mushrooms, fishless fillets and more, but if you want to sample it all at once the Monster Burger piles nearly everything into one gargantuan mouthful (or twenty). The menu also offers beer-battered chips, sweet potato chips, sliders and breakfast dishes with corn fritters and hash browns. Fans of Charlie’s Raw Squeeze will also be able to get their fix of healthy snacks, juices and smoothies.
