Monticello Estate is an eco-friendly farm that that employs sustainable practices when producing its range of apples, pears and wines.

Located in the heart of the Granite Belt is a fully sustainable vineyard and orchard that grows some of Queensland’s best tasting fruit and wine. David Cox started Monticello Estate more than ten years ago with the intention of transforming an old orchard into a thriving farm that grew experimental and boutique produce for wholesale distribution. Today, Monticello Estate grows a range of goods including Pink Lady and Red Delicious apples, Beurré Bosc and Winter Cole pears and Mourvèdre, Verdelho and Sangiovese grapes.

Monticello Estate employs dry-farming techniques, which weans the trees of irrigation sources and forces them to become self-sustaining, thus reducing the eco footprint of the farm. Due to the nature of the farming practices employed by Monticello Estate, there is less tonnage yield than larger farms that are more concerned with output, yet all products are pesticide free and are of the highest quality. Brisbane residents will be able to nab themselves some Monticello Estate goods when the producer comes to the Eat Street Markets on April 17 and 18. Expect to find a small selection of organic apples and some bottles of delicious apple juice.
