Follow your burger-lovin’ heart to the new Miss Kay’s Mitchelton
It’s a hard truth when you realise your head says gym, but your heart says burgers. The boys behind Miss Kay’s know you and your true desires, which is why these honest words blaze in red neon on the wall of their new burger joint in Mitchelton. In the words of Roxette, we advise you listen to your heart.
If you’re already familiar with Miss Kay’s in Brisbane City, we don’t need to sell you. The burger joint has just opened its second location in Mitchelton. There are Miss Kay’s famed mega-burgers. There are Dirty Fries. There are beer towers, extreme milkshakes, cocktail jugs and spiked spiders. There’s an outdoor area perfect for soaking up some rays with a burg and beer in hand. Enough said, article over.
For those of you that don’t know Miss Kay’s, let us paint you a picture. The new spot on Blackwood Street keeps a similar red, white and black theme to its older sibling, complete with shiny black subway tiles along the bar, cushy red leather booths and a fresh lick of white paint on the walls. The music is killer here too – we won’t blame you if you find yourself throwing a casual chair shimmy every time another 80s/90s banger plays.
Breakfast is served every day, and while you could opt for a simple cream cheese bagel or bacon, tomato and American cheese jaffle, we’re thinking you’d rather RSVP to the Sausage Party – two pork and parsley chipolatas, American cheese and egg on an English muffin – or go all in with fried chicken, waffles, ice-cream and maple syrup. From 11:00 am, burgers are king, much like Miss Kay’s in The City. If you’re not au fait with the menu, here’s a little taste. Most of the burgers are not for the faint hearted, and have cheeky names like the Ludakrisp fried chicken burger, the Mac Daddy loaded with mac ‘n’ cheese, and slow-cooked pulled-pork Porky Pig. The Poutine Burger will have you rolling out the door (in a good way), but not as much as The Big Kay’s Challenge – five beef patties, five slices of cheese, lettuce, tomato, Miss Kay’s sauce and Dirty Fries (loaded with tomato chilli and shredded cheese) on the side. Tackle this monster in under 15 minutes (oof) and you’ll get a $30 return voucher and your photo on Miss Kay’s Wall of Fame. Word to the wise – the Mitchelton store hasn’t even been open a week and someone is already up there.
