Slurp and snack until you explode at West End’s MisoHapi Sushi and Ramen Bar

We like big bowls and we cannot lie. Big bowls of ramen that is! Oh, and we also love sushi. Like, ten plates stacked high – that sort of love. Imagine our pure delight when we heard that the two were coming together in one hip package in West End. Words barely describe how happy we are that MisoHapi is now open on Boundary Street, offering a tasty selection of ramen, udon, sushi and bento for us to stuff into our gobs.

In our humble opinion, when it comes to ramen there are two kinds of people – those who love it, and those who haven’t tried it. When it comes to bone-warming noodle soups we believe that ramen doesn’t get the kudos it deserves – and Arjen ‘AJ’ Ash agrees with us. As the owner of MisoHapi Ramen and Sushi Bar, AJ has brought his love for ramen and sushi to West End, filling a need in the local scene for a quality sushi train experience delivered in quintessential West End style. Situated near the Vulture Street end of Boundary Street, MisoHapi occupies a cosy space fitted with comfortable booth seating and adorned with brass lighting fixtures and eye-catching graffiti murals.

MisoHapi’s menu encompasses a smorgasbord of dishes prepared in house by knowledgeable Japanese chefs. Sushi lovers can have their pick from the train, which moves mini rolls, fusion rolls, sushi ships, sashimi, nigiri and aburi from kitchen to mouth. Those looking for something different can opt for stir-fried noodle dishes, udon, donburi rice bowls, agedashi croquettes, avocado chips, spring rolls, okonomiyaki, bento sets and lots more. Ramen veterans and newcomers are catered for in equal measure, with four varieties on offer for soup seekers to slurp. Tonkotsu, miso, soy and salt-based ramen are available, with explanations provided for each for those unfamiliar with the differences between each kind. Night owls will be able to stop by at MisoHapi until midnight, with a condensed supper menu available for those peckish after hours. Thirsty patrons can sample Japanese lemonade, Pokka iced tea, Japanese beers, hot sake and plum sake, with a range of cocktails joining the offering in the coming weeks.
