Plan a festive Melbourne Cup luncheon
A day of long lunches and cheery sips of Champagne, Melbourne Cup is right around the corner. If you’re lucky enough to have the day (or half day) off work here in Brisbane, we’ve put together a little list of potential waterfront luncheon and race-watching locales for Tuesday November 6.
When swanning into Stokehouse at River Quay, you’ll receive a complimentary glass of Larmandier-Bernier Champagne, before indulging in a four-course lunch, including Chilled Cucumber & Horseradish Soup to start and a festive Pina Colada Parfait to finish. Also down at South Bank, The Jetty’s Ultimate Cup Day will feature a three-course meal plus three-hour drinks package, with fashions on the field prizes for best dressed, sweeps and raffles.
At Esquire at Riverside, revellers have the choice of a four- or lengthy-six-course sitting, featuring the likes of Japanese Fried Aubergine and Miso-soaked Australian Murray Cod on the menu. A little up the boardwalk, Mr & Mrs G Riverbar are catering to the very gourmet end of the Melbourne Cup package tail. Featuring free-flowing Veuve Cliquot Champagne, premium wines and boutique beer, this Melbourne Cup package sees antipasto and small dishes accompany a mountain of freshly shucked oysters and king prawns.
Byblos over at Portside Wharf is hosting its fifth annual Mad Hatter’s Melbourne Cup Tea Party, including a three-course mezza-style banquet and roaming entertainment for those in the mood for a little Wonderland-like frivolity.
