Marco Pierre White’s EatClub launches in Brisbane – and there are 300 free burgers to celebrate
Brisbane’s dining scene is arguably the best it’s ever been but let’s face it – the majority of locals are still not embracing our offerings outside of the usual Thursday to Sunday peak periods. Those empty tables come at a significant cost to restaurants, which still have to pay wages and overheads regardless of how busy they are. Instead of being saddened and surprised when an esteemed venue closes its doors, we as a city need to get out and proactively support those venues that we love. We understand the hesitation, though – dining out regularly comes with a price. Here to please both the diner and the restaurant is EatClub, a new discount booking app aiming to fill restaurant tables in slow periods by incentivising diners with up to 50 percent off their total bill, drinks included. As if that wasn’t enticing enough, there are 300 free burgers up for grabs to celebrate.
In a time where hospitality-based apps were focused on dining in, EatClub’s co-founders Pan Koutlakis, Ben Tyler and Matt Cantelo were looking at the exact opposite – driving customers back out again to embrace their local dining scene. When looking for guidance during the app’s developmental stages, the trio emailed renowned international chef and restaurateur Marco Pierre White, who jumped on board as co-founder and consultant … and from there EatClub was born. The concept is simple – a discounted table is much more profitable than an empty one, so using the app restaurants can incentivise diners to eat out in slow periods by offering time-limited deals. Restaurants can activate deals instantly during quiet times to offer between 20–50 percent off diners’ total bill (including drinks!), and EatClub then immediately notifies users in the local area. Since launching in Melbourne a year ago and Sydney in March, EatClub has seen hundreds of well-known restaurants filling tables via the app, and now it’s Brisbane’s turn to get a piece of the action.
An array of Brisbane restaurants have already joined EatClub, with the launch line-up including e’cco bistro, Salt Meats Cheese, Fritzenberger, Lucky Egg, Pourboy and many more. To celebrate the launch, Fritzenberger Petrie Terrace is giving away 300 burgers to new EatClub members this Friday October 5 from 3:00–9:00 pm. At 3:00 pm, 300 free burger deals will be uploaded to Fritzenberger’s EatClub profile and the first 300 customers with the app can redeem one free burger each and head in to eat it before 9:00 pm that evening.
