Marché du Macaron opens in Gordon Park

A quaint store perched on Thistle Street is the new go-to for gourmet macarons in Brisbane.

Local sweet tooths have been filing in and out of Marché du Macaron in Gordon Park, grabbing sweet treats to go with a side of neighbourly chatter. Owner/baker Trish Hollamby and her husband took more than a year to find the perfect space to house her sweet creations, before renovating the Thistle Street cottage in just seven weeks. A glossy black exterior is punctuated by crisp white signage and bursts of greenery, while inside pots of flowers complement the vibrant colour palette of the freshly baked macarons in the cabinet. Let eyes wander from kiwifruit to raspberry to vanilla bean, or settle on the more adventurous passionfruit orange, salted caramel or lavender chocolate combinations. The classic range is also complemented by seasonal additions, such as the current hot cross bun flavour for Easter.

A bench, dog bowl and leash hook are strategically positioned on the footpath outside for when the cravings hit too hard to make it home, while additional tables and freshly made coffee will also be available soon. After Easter, eager bakers will be able to learn the art of macaron making from Trish herself in-store and wine-macaron-matching classes are also in the works. Customers who aren’t able to get to Gordon Park can still place their orders online or by phone and have their bounty of goodness delivered the following day.
