A quaint new espresso bar has sprouted on Wardell Road, offering quality hits of caffeine and sustenance.

Ashgrove coffee lovers were in for a treat this week, with the opening of a new espresso bar on a much-needed Monday morning. Tucked in next to Boran Remedial Massage on Wardell Street, Macchiato Me opened on Monday April 27, offering a rotating selection of specialty coffee alongside a condensed food menu. Park your derrière at a custom-made timber bench and admire chalkboard art care of local fine-art student Jess Grunow, while browsing take-home bags of beans and coffee-making paraphernalia.

The locally roasted Dramanti Artisan Roasters house blend 19/20/20 is complemented by bottled cold-drip and rotating single origins, such as this week’s fruity La Perla from Colombia – perfect on its own or with a dash of milk or panela sugar. The team is on hand to offer expert coffee advice, as well as handy tasting notes on take-home cards. Non-coffee drinkers are also catered for, with loose-leaf teas, frappes, smoothies and iced chocolates made on the signature house fudge. Snack on locally made pies and quiches, or indulge in an apple pie or banoffee dessert jar sourced from Queen of Cakes just a few doors down.
