Lychee Lounge unveils new cocktail and tapas menu
One of Brisbane’s longest-running cocktail bars is shaking things up, bringing in a new series of inventive cocktails as well as some delicious morsels from the kitchen to keep patrons coming back.
The West End nightlife scene is undergoing some big changes in 2016, with plenty of new spots popping up with more to come due to the areas urban renewal plans. Lychee Lounge has been a mainstay on the Boundary Street scene for 16 years, but is looking to update its offering to properly reflect the tastes and needs of the area. Lychee Lounge was purchased nine months ago by Peter Bierton, who has used this time to get an idea of the industry and hone in on what people were after. Alongside venue manager Thomas Ham, Peter has come forth with a revamped cocktail list and food menu that imbues new flavour combinations and techniques.
Lychee Lounge remains one of the best spots for a cocktail in West End with 39 new recipes available in addition to the classics. New cocktails include the FIGJAM with house-marinated Turkish figs, cognac, Pedro Ximenez, fresh apple and pepper, the Thailander #3 with kaffir lime, chilli and lemongrass Bacardi, mint, coconut and ginger beer and A Cashew in Cuba with Bacardi 8, house curacao, pineapple, lime and house made cashew orgeat syrup. The kitchen is also pumping out bar plates encompassing handmade dumplings, chorizo and manchego croquettes, sliders, mixed charcuterie boards and chicken wings.
