Run, don’t walk – Lune has brought back its choc-chip cookie twice-baked croissant

It’s been a year, am I right? Yet somehow, it’s only February. January wasn’t the most ideal start to the new year, so we are looking forward with hopeful hearts (and stomachs) to February. The great news is it’s already off to a good start, with the release of Lune’s jam-packed February specials menu.

While we will take the simplicity (yet complexity) of a classic Lune croissant any day of the week, we definitely get a little spring in our step when the South Brisbane croissanterie announces its specials menu at the beginning of every month. Though February may be short in days, it is definitely not lacking in flavour – this month’s menu features a delectable selection of sweet and savoury delights, including flaky favourites, sweets for your sweet and even a treat to celebrate Frozen The Musical coming to town.

Topping the menu this month is the return of a bona fide crowd favourite – the choc-chip cookie twice-baked pain au chocolat. This majestic beast is filled with a layer of Marie biscuit frangipane and milk-chocolate chips, then topped with house-made cookie dough, a caramelised white chocolate drizzle, chocolate ganache and chunks of choc-chip cookies. Oof. Next up is the bienenstich twice-baked croissant – Lune’s take on the traditional German bee-sting cake. A traditional croissant is filled with honey almond frangipane and vanilla creme pat, then topped with honey almond slices and a slither of raw honeycomb. To celebrate Frozen The Musical  is The Snowball cruffin, filled with blueberry jam and marshmallow mousse, and topped with Italian buttercream and sugar crystals, and savoury lovers will rejoice over the spanakopita escargot, filled with spinach, ricotta and fetta. If that’s not enough to satisfy you, the February menu also features a mixed-berry danish and coconut kouign amann, in addition to Lune’s regular line-up.

Finally, adding to the sweetness will be a limited-time-only Valentine’s Day cruffin – keep an eye on Lune’s Instagram page on February 10 for the reveal!
