Zesty meringue desserts are a treat at Geebung’s Lucid Sweets

Sarah Barrett has firmly established herself as the meringue queen after opening the doors of her new sweet treat café, offering a colourful spectrum of decadent dishes that you won’t want to share.

Although most of us inexperienced kitchen hands would find baking a stressful task, Sarah Barrett took to baking as a form of relaxing therapy. It wasn’t long before Sarah was cranking out flawless meringue kisses on the regular, so she decided to show off her talent at markets around town as Lucid Sweets. After stints at Eat Street Market and a few pop-ups elsewhere, Sarah decided to find a permanent location with a bigger kitchen – settling on the perfect spot in Geebung. Lucid Sweets is a sunny corner cafe that is offering a concise meringue-based dessert menu, as well as a range of savoury bites.

If you are looking to treat yo’ self to something sweet, cop a load of a few of these options. The Berry Nice Eton Mess boasts vanilla bean meringue kisses, raspberry coulis, Norco pure cream and raspberries, while the Straight To The Thighs (an all too relatable name) offers Belgian chocolate meringue served with Nutella, crumbled chocolate honeycomb, cream and banana. Ooof, we can taste it now! Commuters heading to the nearby bus terminal can pop in and grab a Bagel Boys bagel and a Genovese coffee to go. Lucid Sweets makes all of its meringues out of fresh free-range eggs, with milk and cream sourced from Norco in Byron Bay. All fruit is selected fresh from Rocklea Markets except for the raspberries, which are supplied specially from the McGruddy family in Moreton Bay.
