Locale brings the daily Italian lifestyle to Newstead
Bringing a slice of Sicily to Newstead is new Italian cafe, Locale. Sporting the tag line Sip, Shop and Savour, Locale is the creation of Mario and Laura Cali.
With Clayfield patisserie Dolci Sapori and Restaurant Marca in Albion already on their foodie belt, Mario and Laura have crafted a neighbourhood cafe to bring the Italian lifestyle to Newstead denizens and provide a space to serve the traditional biscuits they make under the brand, Kitchen Angel.
Baguettes with Mediterranean fillings like eggplant parmigana and pecorino cheese or prosciutto, bocconcini and tomato pesto grace the front cabinet, while the countertop brims with sugar-coated treats. Cannoli of Sicilian and pastry varieties sit alongside lemon cream sponge cake and almond biscotti, while creamy Di Bella coffee wafts from the machine. Sizeable arrancini balls of beef ragu or spinach and mushroom fillings tempt at lunchtime, while the Italian hot chocolate on the menu will be a must-sample on cooler days.
From the shiny new coffee machine sporting deep red, green and white tones, to the red accessories and green tabletops, Locale proudly shows off its Italian stripes. The space is also set to host demonstration classes, helping those who struggle in the baking arena to piece together the simple Kitchen Angel pre-packaged recipes with Nonna-like skill.
