West End’s spike in residential development – particularly along its in-demand riverside reach – has led to a corresponding rise in hospitality ventures along Montague Road and its perpendicular side streets. Little Peaches, a pint-sized coffee dispensary tucked away on Beesley Street, is one such venture looking to cater to the sharp increase in caffeine-seeking individuals. The caffeinery’s genesis was a matter of chance – when Dr Jacinta Power secured a location for her soon-to-open family-run aesthetic clinic Peaches by Dr Power, the site’s attached garage space offered Jacinta and her family (Josh, Grace, Rhonda and Des) the opportunity to add onto the clinic’s holistic offering. Coffee seemed like a natural fit for the snug spot – a public-facing addition that not only helped the family enhance its offering for clientele, but also engage with the community and cater to the residents of neighbouring apartment blocks. Jacinta’s brother Josh and his partner Lachlan Geraghty – a coffee-scene veteran with years of experience slinging brews at Fonzie Abbott – volunteered to turn the hole-in-the-wall into a welcoming and pretension-free sipping station.

The duo has given the hideaway a lick of monochromatic army-green paint (a scheme that will contrast with the clinic’s modern Mediterranean decor), added some lush greenery and installed a gleaming espresso machine and pastry cabinet. Little Peaches opened immediately after the latest lockdown wrapped, greeting those emerging from their homes with a concise and convenient menu. Core to the Little Peaches offering is coffee – Fonzie Abbott’s Highside blend is the brew of choice, while juices are also on offer for those trying to ease off the caffeine. Brasserie Bread is supplying Little Peaches with an array of baked goods – think raspberry tarts, fruit-filled danishes and almond croissants – while a small retail section stocks bags of Highside coffee beans, lemon-myrtle teas (made by the Power family) and body scrubs. Pooches are more than welcome, with puppycinos available for furry friends to enjoy.
