The corner of Lytton Road and Heidelberg Street in East Brisbane has been undergoing some changes in recent months, with several new faces popping up in the area. Light Coffee is one such newcomer – a boutique coffee haunt that is bringing a fresh approach to the local scene with its own roasted beans served in a variety of ways. Owned and operated by coffee fanatic Eva and her husband, Light Coffee has set itself up in a cosy tenancy next door to the C3 Church, transforming a former bakery space into a clean and minimalist cafe. All furniture has been custom made by Josh Russell from Sunday’s Coffee, while a few vintage pieces tie in to the bright turquoise feature wall behind the counter.

Drawing upon more than seven years of experience in various aspects of the coffee industry, Eva decided to act on her passion by opening up a specialty coffee spot where she could introduce locals to various brewing methods. Light Coffee specialises in filter brew, with blends sourced from Eva’s own roasting operation. Espresso is available for commuters needing a pick-me-up for the bus, with croissants from Danny’s Bread and baked treats also on offer. If you’ve indulged in too many cups of coffee lately, Arakai Estate tea is also available, as is hot chocolate from The Smooth Chocolator and Hepburn Organic Sodas. Eva believes everyone should have the proper apparatus for brewing top-notch coffee at home, so Light Coffee also stocks everything you could need to get started.
