For Grant Lew, his burgeoning Lick! Ice Cream empire has always been much more than a dessert dispensary. Over more than a decade, Lick! Ice Cream has been a big part of the local community, putting smiles on dials at events all over Brisbane and from its bricks-and-mortar location in Graceville. The creators of the iconic strawberry sundae at The Ekka to the highly coveted baklava ice-cream at Paniyiri, Lick! Ice Cream has been a popular fixture of local events, which has helped increase its profile tenfold in recent years. As popularity grew and storage space became limited, Grant and his team decided that the time was right to expand, resulting in a brand new shopfront in Morningside in Brisbane’s east. For Grant this area was perfect for his second location thanks to its supportive food community, growing profile and an eager local fan base itching for a new dessert spot.

Lick! Ice Cream’s Morningside location has been purposely designed to mirror the Graceville flagship (why fix something that isn’t broken?), stocking a mind-boggling selection of more than 30 ice-cream flavours, which includes gluten, dairy and nut-free varieties. The flavour list is a who’s who of all-time favourites, including macadamia praline, cookie dough choc chip caramel, Jamaican rum and raisin and spiced Sutton’s apple cider, with a selection of limited edition flavours popping in and out every few weeks. Other iconic Lick! specialties include the doughnut and waffle hybrids (called doffles), chocolate fudge brownies filled with cocoa sorbet as well as vanilla and couverture dark chocolate ice-cream, plus ice-cream sandwiches, banana splits, milkshakes and more. Some new additions include new activated charcoal and protein-infused scoops for the gym junkie with a sweet tooth, Sutton’s pink lady apple juice, Black Sheep Coffee for the caffeine seekers and loose-leaf tea from Tavalon.
