Bakery Lane finally lives up to its name with the arrival of Le Petit Paris

Pastry lovers, rejoice! Fortitude Valley’s Bakery Lane has further solidified its name with the arrival of Le Petit Paris – an authentic French bakery and creperie that has brought pristine pastries, beautiful baguettes and covetable crepes to the hip shopping and snacking hub.

Although croissants are a bakery staple around these parts, many Francophiles and French ex-pats would scoff at any claim to authenticity these pastries have. For a while now, Brisbane has been lacking an honest-to-goodness French bakery, a problem Quentin Durieu and Giovanni Bresler – two French transplants – noticed as well. Together with Amber Lynch, the trio sought out a space to offer some genuine French food, coming across a charming spot in the heart of Bakery Lane next to fellow baked-goods creator I Heart Brownies. Le Petit Paris is like a little slice of France, offering a range of sweet and savoury treats with ingredients sourced and imported from France, ensuring this is the closest you can get to French authenticity without hopping on a plane and strolling the rues and avenues of Paris.

The cosy space has been designed to embody a mix of rustic French design with a modern twist. The counter is loaded with an assortment of pastries freshly baked on site, with upwards of seven sweet and three savoury pastries available. We’re talking almond croissants, Nutella and almond scrolls, apple turnovers, pain au chocolate, and ham and cheese croissants. In addition to the pastries, Le Petit Paris also specialises in sweet and savoury crepes, loaded with the likes of lemon and sugar, honey, Nutella and strawberries, ham and Swiss cheese, chicken and mushrooms, smoked salmon and more. Rounding out the offering is a selection of sandwiches made fresh to order and sublime barista-made coffee.
