Le Bon Choix brings a slice of Paris to Brisbane’s southside

Rows of colourful macarons and delicacies line the counter, manicured green hedges frame red-leather booths, and perfectly dressed waitstaff chime a chorus of ‘bonjour’ as you peruse the pastries. No, this isn’t a travel story about our latest trip to Paris – you can get a taste for yourself at Le Bon Choix’s newest boulangerie and patisserie at Westfield Garden City.

The Upper Mount Gravatt location inside Westfield Garden City is Le Bon Choix’s fifth store, with locations already in Ascot, Paddington, Queen Street and Edward Street. The boulangerie and patisserie completely lives up to the wonderful French charm that Le Bon Choix does best, with fresh pastries and sweet treats delivered daily from the store’s head-office bakery. Flaky croissants, sticky danishes, sugary filled doughnuts and more fill the side counter, luring you in with their distinct and intoxicating scent. On the opposite side, you can peruse the perfectly lined-up macarons, with flavours ranging from hazelnut and caramel to blackcurrant and cookies and cream. But it’s at the very front that Le Bon Choix’s most decadent and impressive sweet treats are displayed. Shiny bright orange domes, delicately piped tarts, flower-clad eclairs and caramel-laden pyramids fill the glass cabinet, teasing passers-by with the likes of the Jocelyn – coffee and chocolate mousse with a ginger brulee and hint of caramel, or the new Bahati, with coconut, cassis and a touch of lime.

Those with a penchant for something a little more savoury will be more than satisfied as well. Fresh ingredients spill out of freshly made ciabattas and baguettes, cheese-topped croque-monsieurs beg to be gobbled up, and gourmet pies and quiches complete the offering.
