Geek out over La Macelleria’s newest gelateria at Coorparoo Square

After four years building its reputation from its humble Teneriffe home, La Macelleria Gelateria’s operations have blossomed. Following on from its expansion to West End last year, the popular artisan gelato outfit can now be found at Coorparoo Square, delivering dynamo desserts before opening another location again in Bowen Hills next year.

If you’ve got a sweet tooth and haven’t tasted the heavenly assortment of flavours at La Macelleria, it’s time to re-evaluate your priorities. After doubling his output with a new gelataria and dessert lab in West End last year, La Macalleria’s Matteo Zini has been putting in work on two more spaces – one of which opened this week at Coorparoo Square. The space, recently vacated by La Mimosa Gelato, proved perfect for Matteo’s needs, as only minor cosmetic adjustments were needed to make the space his own. Unlike its older siblings, the Coorparoo location doesn’t boast a gelato machine of its own on site – the spot is instead supplied daily by La Macelleria West End.

Alongside La Macelleria’s signature range of artisan gelato, the creamery also hawks indulgent gelato milk shakes – a new addition to the dessert destination’s repertoire. Your choice of two flavours and mixed into a thick consistency, then finished with a selection of toppers. We’re talking caramel and raspberry sauce, chopped pistachios and chocolate pearls, or a shot of coffee and whipped cream – decadent doesn’t even begin to describe it. The gelateria’s fridge is also well provisioned with mini cones, ice-cream sandwiches, gelato cannolis, gelato pops and cakes.

La Macelleria Gelateria at Coorparoo Square is officially opening this Saturday October 27. Small gelato cups will be available for $1 between 5:00–7:00 pm, and Beyond The Pale will be whipping up special gelato-infused cocktails. For regular opening hours, check out the Stumble Guide.
