Kiss The Berry, Brisbane City

Kiss The Berry Pop-Up opens in Brisbane City

A small purple drupe has sent Brisbane City workers into a feeding frenzy, with Kiss The Berry Pop-Up dishing out nutrient-dense acai bowls and smoothies for breakfast, lunch and in between.

The winds of change are rolling through Brisbane as diners are opting for healthier alternatives and getting hooked by linguistic lures like organic, paleo, raw and gluten-free. The queues are still zigzagging out of paleo hotspots Primal Pantry, Purely Decadent Cafe and Paleo Cafe, as locals lust after fresh juice and smoothie joints like Coco Bliss Superfood Bar and organic food delivery services like The Farmer’s Son and Yummbox. And now the acai berry has pushed to the fore, with local business Kiss The Berry launching a new pop-up store on Adelaide Street last week. After experiencing overwhelming success at Ascot’s Eagle Farm Markets every Sunday, Kiss The Berry co-founders Sarah Miller and Keziah Bossley have taken the next step with their city outlet operating for six weeks until Friday December 20.

The acai berry originated in Brazil’s Amazon rainforest and is believed to be packed with antioxidants, amino acids, minerals and vitamins. At Kiss The Berry, you can have this nutritious little guy blended up with fresh fruit, juice and superfood supplements to form a nourishing acai bowl or smoothie. The Original Bowl sees acai berries cosying up to strawberries, bananas and apple juice and topped with crunchy granola, local honey and a sprinkling of chia seeds, while the Lean & Green Smoothie offers a few healthy surprises in the form of carrots, baby spinach leaves, ginger, whey protein powder and the option of coconut milk. Sarah and Keziah endeavour to source their ingredients from local producers and providores, collecting honey from Albany Creek, superfoods from The Nut Market and protein from Pure Balance.

Stay tuned to the Kiss The Berry Facebook page for updates on a potential permanent store opening early next year.
