Go crazy for katsu with morsels from this Japanese-inspired dark kitchen

It’s been a big year for food-delivery services – we probably don’t need to remind you why. Many kitchens across Brisbane have shaken up their business model to allow for more flexible methods of getting food from them to you, resulting in a host of dark kitchens dishing out waves of delivery-only goodies. Katsu Sando is one of the new faces on the block looking to fill our gobs with Japanese-inspired snacks – including its famed namesake, the katsu sandwich.

Oh, Japan – how do we love thee? Let us count the ways. Any list pertaining to our Japanese obsessions must start with the food. Japanese cuisine easily ranks in this writer’s top five of culinary faves, and I’m not humouring any dissenting opinions. Katsu Sando is a new delivery only concept that seems to be targeting my tastebuds, specifically, but I’m willing to bet there are a few of you who share my obsession. The concept is dishing out a selection of bites that can conquer any Godzilla-sized hunger, with everything prepared and delivered with supreme efficiency.

Leading Katsu Sando’s menu is, well, a pair of katsu sandos. These bad boys aren’t the simple sandwiches you might be used to – they have got some primo ingredients. One is stuffed with panko-crumbed wagyu sirloin with a marble score of 6+ (that’s a really good number for a humble sando), the other boasts a panko-crumbed Bangalow pork fillet – both paired with a dollop of red miso sauce, kewpie mayo, cabbage and onion on toasted milk loaf. Also on the menu is a hearty katsu-chicken or crispy-tofu curry, wagyu cheeseburger, pork-and-chive gyoza, vege gyoza and crispy potato fries with roasted nori sea salt and steamed edamame. Katsu Sando is also serving beverages – we’re talking fruit iced tea, milk iced tea with boba pearls and soft drinks. Katsu Sando is now delivering on Uber Eats.
