Il Locale Italian kitchen opens in Rosalie
Pull up a seat at the Togninis’ table for a laid-back feast of rustic, northern Italian cooking.
Comfort food doesn’t come better than a giant bowl of handmade buckwheat pasta, a slow-roasted shoulder of lamb or a sizzling sphere of woodfired pizza. Push open the antique door and step into the welcoming atmosphere of new neighbourhood eatery Il Locale, and you’ll feel like you’ve dropped in on family. If you’ve sampled the fare at Mark and Narelle Tognini’s two other Brisbane venues – Tognini’s Trattoria in Spring Hill or Tognini’s Café Deli in Milton – your tastebuds should be primed for the Italian feast ahead. The couple’s new venture focuses on rustic, homestyle fare, most of which is blessed with a little time in the woodfired oven.
Open for lunch, dinner and afternoon snacking, the Rosalie restaurant hosts a team of predominately Italian chefs, who dish up hearty mains and share plates to fill the communal wooden tables. A custom-built fridge houses sacred Piedmont cheeses and San Daniele prosciutto, and the wine rack boasts drops from the rolling vineyards of Italy. Round off your meal with a cup of Lavazza’s new Gran Riserva blend, available exclusively at Il Locale.
