Ichiban Yakitori opens in Brisbane City
If you’re a fan of the soft buns from food truck The Bun Mobile, pop down to Creek Street in Brisbane City to sample the specialties of Japanese grill, Ichiban Yakitori.
At this lunchtime gem, Japanese steamed buns sport fillings of miso-roasted pork belly with chilli hoisin sauce, pickled cucumber and coriander or braised beef with pink coleslaw, dijon mustard and raspberry spread. Meat and veggie skewers, pork gyoza, Japanese beef curry also feature on the menu, along with soups especially for winter.
Lunchtime bento boxes also make an appearance, with rotating specials like the tonkatsu rice burger of deep-fried tonkatsu pork drizzled in Japanese barbecue sauce and stacked between two rice patties with ichiban salad keeping city workers coming back regularly. Ichiban Yakitori uses eco-friendly, biodegradable disposable tableware and is cash only.
