Hitting the clubs gets a new meaning at Wintergarden’s Holey Moley Golf Club
When Holey Moley Golf Club first broke onto the scene in 2016, it changed the game and redefined what was possible in the realm of hospitality-meets-entertainment concepts. More than three years on and Holey Moley bars are sprouting up everywhere, with more than 15 locations in Australian alone. Brisbane scored a second indoor putt-putt bar late last year when Holey Moley landed at the Wintergarden, giving the inner-city scene a lively hang that blends games of skill with a menu of decadent eats.
With concepts suck as Strike Bowling, B. Lucky & Sons and Archie Brothers Cirque Electriq in its portfolio, Funlab is far and away the most prominent proponent of entertainment-based hospitality in Australia. The group is also the originator of Holey Moley Golf Club, which (for the uninitiated) pairs a purpose-built mini-golf course with a lively retro party atmosphere, and its new outpost in the Wintergarden is no exception. Here, groups tackle a succession of progressively off-the-wall holes, from a lambent replica of Vincent van Gogh’s bedroom and a dizzying funfair to a magical Harry Potter-themed hole and a towering King Kong-inspired showstopper.
Much like its arcade-themed siblings, all Holey Moley locations come equipped with a menu of bonkers dishes and drinks. In addition to the always-popular stone-baked pizzas and hotdogs, hungry putters can also chomp on the Holy Cheezus (a beef burger injected with gooey cheese sauce), The Dirty Birdie (a fried-chicken burger lathered with guac and chilli mayo), as well as share plates including waffle fries, tater tots, chicken wings, and a bunch of vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free options. Such a feast naturally requires a beverage or two, and Holey Moley’s certainly got the goods. Opt for beer, wine or mocktails, or get crazy with some of the quirky concoctions on offer. There’s no wrong way to play!
