Hatch & Co. opens in Newstead
Divine slow-cooked dishes and a breezy fit-out make for pleasurable dining at new restaurant Hatch & Co.
When the creative sparks behind some of Brisbane’s best venues team up with the 2013 runner-up for the Electrolux Appetite for Excellence Young Chef of the Year award, you can be sure the results are going to be nothing short of exceptional. Johnny, Elie and Mel Moubarak – the brothers behind the likes of Gerard’s Bistro, Lychee Lounge and Laruche – have joined forces with the Barakat Group and head chef Braden White to deliver a unique dining experience in an inviting setting. Perched on a corner of the new Gasworks Plaza complex, Hatch & Co. takes advantage of the adjacent greenery with an alfresco dining area that catches both sunshine and breeze.
Embracing the principles of traditional slow cooking with a focus on local, sustainable produce, Braden and his team have crafted a menu of belly-warming repasts. Graze on indulgences like manchego croquettes with chipotle mayonnaise or daily charcuterie plates, before moving on to generous share plates proffering slow-cooked lamb shoulder with lemon and garlic or roasted organic chicken with parsnip, mushrooms and smoked leek. Those who prefer to keep greedy companions away from their plates can opt for mains like pork cheek ragu with chilli, garlic and hand-cut pappardelle or flavoursome pizza combinations fresh out of the copper-coated oven.
