Run by Candice and Mellita, two dumpling-crazed friends who took their passion (obsession) to the next level, Happy Little Dumplings’ first store opened in Bulimba last year. Taking over the Vivo Coffee space near Press, Happy Little Dumplings on James Street maintained the sleek red and white design of the previous tenants, adding familiar snippets of astroturf and eco-friendly eating utensils.

Eat in or takeaway gourmet dumplings like Pork Belly & Bok Choy and Chinese Chilli Duck, or the seafood-filled Prawn & Coriander Har Gow. The steamed BBQ Pork Bun is soft and fluffy, while the Black Sticky Rice Pudding or Mango Pancake is the perfect 3:30 pm pick-me-up. Wonton soup will be joining the Vietnamese Rice Paper Rolls on the specials menu as of Monday, and large red teapots arrived this evening for your complimentary jasmine tea. You’ll still have to pop over to the Bulimba outfit for a dinner sitting of a Friday to Sunday night, but northside residents will find happiness in knowing their lunchtime yum cha fix can be devoured at James Street.
