Gurts Frozen Yogurt Bar opens at Gasworks

The Gasworks development has been ascending skyward in recent months and now Newstead locals can finally take a step inside, with the Gasworks Plaza retail and food precinct opening this week.

The first round of Gasworks Plaza tenants has opened up in Newstead, with Gurts Frozen Yogurt Bar, Campos Coffee, Salsa’s Fresh Mex Grill, Max Brenner and Woolworths now open for trade, alongside a number of retail offerings slated for the coming weeks.

One of the big lures sure to get tongues wagging in the Queensland heat is yoghurt heaven, Gurts. Inspired by the FroYo culture of the US, owners Todd and Marisa Clayton have launched their healthy dessert bar with a tempting range of shakes, smoothies and sundaes. Choose from six flavours of frozen yoghurt like biscotti, salted caramel or mango, and give your willpower a workout with a massive 32 toppings to choose from, including exploding lychee pearls, mocha Japanese rice cakes, housemade granola and fresh fruit.

Macarons and meringues are sourced from nearby Jocelyn’s Provisions, while Campos supplies coffee shots for a cooling frappe caffeine-boost. Premium gluten-free Greek yoghurt is sourced from Ballina and whipped into a range of delights, like the nostalgic iced vo vo bursting with fresh strawberries, mini marshmallows, crunchy crumble and coconut. Another Gurts bar is expected to open in Morayfield at the end of September.
