Rise and shine with Teneriffe’s Greenhaus Coffee

Ali and Brett Hutley know good food. They spent years working as private chefs for Sydney’s rich and famous. They taught the people of Brisbane that you can make friends with salad through their real-food haven Botanica. And as of this Saturday June 24, they are helping us wake up in the best way possible with their latest venture, Greenhaus Coffee in Teneriffe.

For years locals have been flocking to Ali and Brett’s Botanica Real Food in Red Hill and Teneriffe in search of mouth-watering salads, tantalising tarts and delectable sweet treats. One question, however, that Ali and Brett have been consistently asked (despite pleasing our palates in many other ways) – where’s the coffee? They finally have the answer, in the form of their new caffeinated sister store Greenhaus Coffee, which opens its doors on Saturday June 24. The petite cafe sits just a couple of doors down from its Teneriffe sibling, beckoning passers-by with the wafting aroma of Allpress Espresso and freshly baked goodies. The words ‘rise and shine’ welcome you through the door – hand tiled by Ali herself – and once you peep the deliciousness in the cabinet, you’ll know it’s going to be a good morning.

Much like Botanica, Greenhaus Coffee is predominantly takeaway, but you can pull up a stool in the bright sun-filled space while you wait for your coffee or to stop for a quick bite. Tasty grab-and-go morsels are on offer from early in the morning, including breakfast parfaits, warm porridge and tartines topped with green tahini, blistered tomatoes and fresh basil. The time of day doesn’t necessarily have to dictate what you choose – the rotating selection will also include the likes of toasted brioche buns filled with spinach and vintage cheddar or tomato, basil and mozzarella, gluten-free scones made with superfood ancient-grain teff, herbs and cheddar, and hot soup. Sweet tooths will be satisfied by brioche bostocks with homemade jam and almond frangipane, and two daily changing gluten-free loaf cakes in flavours of raspberry and coconut, banana and caramelised fig and more. All of the bites are made fresh each day and completely vegetarian.

Greenhaus Coffee opens its doors on Saturday June 24. For opening hours and contact details, head to our Stumble Guide.
