Greek on Cav opens in Coorparoo
A new Mediterranean restaurant has opened in Coorparoo and is already a firm favourite with southside Brisbane locals.
It’s a family affair for the team at Coorparoo locale Greek on Cav, with owner Mary Lean Kalatzis running the venue alongside her two brothers, sister and daughter. Even her mother pops in regularly to whip up her legendary Greek sweets. After running the Carina Leagues Club restaurant for 17 years, Mary brought her trio of trusty chefs with her to this new venture. Having been born in Lesvos, Mary decided it was time to pay homage to her homeland by setting up a traditional Greek taverna with a few modern twists.
After developing the menus over a period of several months, chefs Darren, Brendon and Costa have perfected the restaurant’s signature dishes of prawn saganaki with fresh tomato and fetta, and chargrilled octopus with lemon and oregano. Guests can enjoy a varied taste of the menu with small share plates, large platters and banquets on offer. The jovial Greek atmosphere is completed with live music on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday nights. Greek on Cav is BYO and open for dine-in and takeaway meals six nights a week and Sunday lunch, with plans to extend to midweek lunches soon.
