Tucked inside a cosy basement on Adelaide Street, Grape Therapy wine merchant and drinking den is the newest venue from local wine expert Darren Davis. Following the closure of Bar Barossa and temporary pop-up wine bar The Studio, Darren has shifted his cellar across the road to a space formerly inhabited by Brisbane Supper Club Wine Boutique. Cellared wines ranging from rare vintage bottles to newer small-run boutique drops are sold at retail prices and available to take away or drink in for a fee of $20. Treat your palate to aged gems like Mount Mary Quintet, Penfolds Bin 389 and Lakes Folly Cabernet, and take a seat in the dimly lit basement as Dean Martin and Frank Sinatra croon away in the background.

Open from 7:30 am Monday through to Friday, city workers can grab a cup of Sunshine Coast-based Bare Espresso to get the heart started on a weekday, or kick back with a glass of wine amongst the solid brass instruments and kerosene lamps. Cosy up on the Chesterfields and enlist your friends in a game of Scrabble, before browsing the extensive wine cabinet for your next beverage of choice. Knowledgeable staff are happy to guide you through the decision, or make use of the open bottles with an informal wine tasting. Cheese and charcuterie platters are available at any time or if the belly is calling for something a little more substantial, order a pizza from Ciccio’s Pasta Bar upstairs and have it delivered directly to you. Late Friday afternoons see the in-house DJ place a welcome hand on the turntable to spin jazz and soul tunes as you make friends with what is shaping up to be the most extensive back-vintage wine list in Brisbane.
