Goodwill Brew is serving morning pick-me-ups with a whole lot of heart on Goodwill Bridge

Crossing Goodwill Bridge on your morning commute? We know an inclusive cafe where you can pick up a crackin’ coffee that is sure to put a smile on your dial. Say hello to Goodwill Brew, a social enterprise that has been serving up top-notch caffeinated beverages since opening in April.

A coffee cart with a lot of heart, Goodwill Brew is just one of the many businesses owned and operated by HELP – a Queensland-based social enterprise creating brighter futures for people with disability. For more than 50 years, HELP has assisted people with disability in learning new skills (like making a damn-fine cup of joe!), making important social connections and building independence. The organisation has a network of more than 60 sites stretching across Queensland and beyond, which includes the likes of Fison Food Factory in Eagle Farm, Oxford Park Nursery in Mitchelton and now, Goodwill Brew.

At any one time, coffee seekers will find three staff working at the Goodwill Brew coffee cart – a barista, a supported employee and their support worker. The current line-up of supported team members working at the cart include smiling faces Jay, Matthew, Luke and Michael, who will be helping you to get your hands on a killer cup of Merlo-brewed coffee that is sure to perk you up. Working at Goodwill Brew means that the supported employees will develop skills for work and life, learning everything from money handling and customer service to making coffee and communication skills. The best part? All profits from Goodwill Brew are reinvested into the continued development of HELP’s disability care and employment services, allowing more initiatives like Goodwill Brew to come to fruition.

Attention early birds! Goodwill Brew is open Monday to Friday from 5:45–11:00 am and on weekends from 5:45 am to 12:30 pm. To learn more about Goodwill Brew and the great work that HELP does, head to the HELP Enterprises website.
