Tuck into a freshly made pasta at Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers
The meeting of the minds between chef and Italian produce importer has resulted in Australia’s first gnoccheria, a mobile street-food business dedicated to fresh Italian gnocchi.
Market stallholder and online supplier Ben Cleary-Corradini from Benfatti Fine Italian Foods has joined forces with Theo Roduner, the executive chef and owner of Paddington’s Grappino Trattoria, to make the best gnocchi you have possibly ever tasted under the name Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers. Each Monday when the restaurant is closed, the pair take over the Grappino kitchen and work magic with Tasmanian Dutch cream organic potatoes, Benfatti’s cherry tomato sauce, truffle oil imported from Italy and locally grown organic vegetables.
Standard menu items include gnocchi with cherry tomato and black olives, wild mushroom and truffle oil sauce or bolognese sauce. Each season the boys come up with something special to add to their gnocchi and this winter saw fresh truffles from Tasmania being shaved over the wild mushroom and truffle oil sauce. For those who want more, Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers also offers fresh Sicilian cannoli, traditional tiramisu and vanilla-bean panna cotta.
Gnocchi Gnocchi Brothers satisfies the Italian cravings of market goers at the Jan Powers Brisbane City Farmers Markets, Mt Gravatt Marketta, Milton Mini Markets, Eat Street Markets and Eats and Beats, as well as Italian festivals across the country and Brisbane’s Ekka.
